Important fact:

The castle was destroyed by the Swedish and Spanish troops during the Thirty Years' War in 1634. The castle was not rebuilt afterwards.

The ruin is located at an altitude of 321 meters (above sea level) on top of a volcano that has been extinguished for centuries.
