Important fact:
Destroyed by war in 1542 and 1689, then hit by earthquakes in 1755 and 1878. This meant that the castle had slowly turned into a ruin. Parts were rebuilt around 1906, but again severely damaged in WWII. 1954/55 a new partial rebuilding followed. In 1979 the keep got its current gable roof.
